So, last Thursday, I found myself in Milwaukee for an all-day meeting with Guerrilla Grand Master David Perry, Guerrilla Job Search Drill Instructor Mark Haluska, and fellow Drill Instructor Steve Panyko (not pictured).

After our meeting, we had dinner at Bravo’s in the Bayshore Town Center, which accounts for the pizza sauce on my T-shirt in the video.

Thereafter, we found a Barnes & Noble down the street … and it was decided to go in for an impromptu book signing of David’s Guerrilla Marketing for Job Hunters 2.0, to which Mark and I were contributing co-authors.

Now. What does this idiocy have to do with your job search?

Three things …

1) Keep your goals in mind and your eyes open.

Had we not been thinking and talking about Guerrilla Job Hunting, we would have walked right past the Barnes & Noble and lost an opportunity to create a “signed by author” version of the book, which — I guarantee you — will sell faster than an ordinary copy.

2) It’s more fun with friends.

Most things — job hunting included — are more fun with friends. Because fun is good.

David is a great friend and Mark is a new friend. Look how much fun we’re having.

Friends boost your spirits and give you confidence. So, find a friend to help in your job search.

Remember: “a shared joy is a double joy,” according to Wayne Dyer.

3) Get out of your house.

Go someplace different, meet someone new. You’re bound to change your thinking and come away with at least one new idea or networking contact.

In my case, I had never met Mark before, despite working with him on our Guerrilla Job Search Bootcamps for a year now.

There are plenty of ways to think new thoughts, get recharged, and get new ideas. One of them is to change your environment, if only for a day or two.
