Relate past experiences that show you’ve had success
in solving problem(s) that may be similar to the ones they are currently
facing. Succinctly tell them what you bring to the table. What sets you apart
from your competitors. Don’t be a bragard just the facts!
[That's
it. Now it goes without saying that how you sum your life should have
something to do with why you're qualified to do the job they're
interested interviewing you for.]
This is a great post. I think most jobseekers understand the question and a basic way of answering it. In my mind, the issue is not really to describe how my experiences make me qualified for this job. Rather, it should be a lead in to a more detailed discussion.
I would prefer hearing a candidate tell me a story about his experiences, solving a problem at work, eg, and then be able to tie that to something at THIS company that he has researched. Jobseekers will say “how do I know the problems at this company, I am just a candidate.” That is just it…do some research, find out issues or PAINS the company has, even in another area, and apply your experiences to solving that problem. They will give you credit for the thought process EVEN if you are wrong.
