Here’s an email from a buyer of our Guerrilla Job Search Home Study Course that ought to brighten your day.
It’s from a man we’ll call, “Mr. X.”
Why the cloak-and-dagger secrecy?
He’s still interviewing for jobs and doesn’t want to blow his cover with employers. His true identity will come out soon enough.
Meanwhile, take a look at his email below.
There are two takeaway lessons for you in his success story — what are they?
David and Kevin,
Update on the new resume and coffee cup caper, and some good news…
Found a job posting via Indeed.com that fit my background like a glove… based on my military training and experience.
Researched company for name of president as it was not listed on the company’s Website. Used Secretary of State’s Corporate Records Website to locate president’s name.
Modified the Extreme Guerrilla Cover Letter for non-advertised positions. Added several bullets from my very long resume and two comments about me from past reviewers.
Had FedEx Kinko’s copy my resume in color on very high-quality letterhead paper, and copy my cover letter in black on the same paper. Placed both cover letter and resume in a high quality white 9†x 12†envelope and hand addressed using the president’s name, title, and company name.
Sent the envelope and a Starbucks’ large paper coffee cup in a FedEx Large Box. Sent the package yesterday via FedEx Priority Overnight for delivery today by 10:30 am; cost about $19.00.
This morning I received an email from FedEx that the package was delivered at 9:05 am. I planned to call the president at 10:20 am.
At 10:15 am I received an email from the company informing me that my resume had been received and asking my availability for an interview!
At 10:39 am I received an email asking if I could meet with the president and COO tomorrow at 3:00 pm.
At 10:56 am I received an email confirming my meeting tomorrow at 3:00 pm.
Does the Extreme Guerrilla Resume combined with the Coffee Cup Caper work? I would say so!
Not that I have the job; that’s really not the point for me at the moment. Right now I’m reveling in the results of a seriously elegant and effective process that worked… quickly!
And I’m not finished. I plan to repeat the process everyday for the next week or so. Now that I know how to stack the odds a bit more in my favor, why stop?
David and Kevin, thank you so much! I’ll keep both of you up to date with progress reports.
With best regards,
Mr. X
What did Mr. X do that you can do, too?
1) He researched and built a Top 20 list of companies he wanted to work for. Were they advertising any job openings? Didn’t matter. Like all smart Guerrillas, he went looking for employers, not jobs. (Most job seekers get this backwards. And most job seekers struggle. NOT a coincidence.)
2) He deployed a Guerrilla Resume and our patent-pending Coffee Cup Caper to make first contact with an employer — both tactics which are explained in great detail in our Guerrilla Job Search Home Study Course.
Stay tuned for more on this developing story …

I feel lucky to have found such a wealth of info.
Michael,
great post
